The third film in the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them franchise is slated to kick off filming in just a few months.

Deadline reports the as-yet untitled Fantastic Beasts 3 will launch production in Spring 2020. This echoes what star Dan Fogler revealed at LeakyCon just last month: "We haven’t started filming yet. We start in February." The film is expected to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The first two films were set in New York City and Paris, respectively.

Additionally, the film will expand Jessica Williams' role. In Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Williams played Professor Eulalie “Lally” Hicks, a teacher at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The Fantastic Beasts movies have made a combined $1.46 billion worldwide. Adding that to the $7.7 billion made by the Harry Potter films, Rowling's Wizarding World franchise has grossed nearly $9.2 billion globally.

The Fantastic Beasts series stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, the wizard adventurer who captures and catalogs mystical beasts. Jude Law, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler and Johnny Depp also star.

David Yates is still expected to direct Fantastic Beasts 3, with Harry Potter creator J. K. Rowling writing the script. The release date for the film was recently delayed until Nov. 12, 2021.
