Principal photography began this week on the first sequel to last year's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, an expansion of J.K. Rowling's wizarding world, set decades before Harry Potter arrived at Hogwarts. While casting confirmed the addition of Jude Law as a young Albus Dumbledore, as well as Johnny Depp stepping in as the wizard supremacist Gellert Grindelwald, plot details have been scarce until today, when Warner Bros. released a brief synopsis hinting at things to come.

According to Variety, "Grindelwald has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause – elevating wizards above all non-magical beings. The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore. But Dumbledore will need help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander.”

The sequel will be set in 1920s Paris, as opposed to New York City, and will see the return of Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Ezra Miller and Zoe Kravitz.

The still-untitled sequel -- the second in a supposedly five-part series -- is set to hit theaters in November 2018.
