For attendees of two screenings, the wait to see "Deadpool" unleashed on the big screen is over. Two special fan events that were billed as premieres of "first look footage" from "Deadpool" ended up being more than that -- they ended up being premieres of an unfinished version of the entire movie. Audiences in both New York and Los Angeles got to see the movie last night; Ryan Reynolds introduced the film in New York while, as ComicBook.com reported, Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld, director Tim Miller, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, actress Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead) and Stan Lee himself showed up at the Los Angeles one.

Screening the film in its entirety almost a month before it opens in theaters was a risk 20th Century Fox was willing to take -- and one that looks like it's paid off, as the screenings have generated positive word of mouth online. ComicBookMovie has a roundup of some celebratory tweets, as well as a few photos from the event.

This #deadpool fan's happy. Really fun movie. Overall plot's standard, but consistently strong comedy, fan service & action overshadow that.- Gregg Katzman (@GreggKatzman) January 19, 2016

Well, hell, you guys. They went and made an amazingly awesome, fun, exciting #Deadpool movie. It's outstanding.- Lucas Siegel (@LucasSiegel) January 19, 2016
