Fans Petition DC for New "Young Justice" Comic Series

For weeks, the cast and crew of "Young Justice," Cartoon Network's much-missed series starring DC Comics' teenage superheroes, have been hinting at the possibility for a long-awaited third season. Now, fans of the comic incarnation of the show have launched a petition for DC Comics to revive the series which ran from 2011-2013 and was written by the cartoon's Producer, Greg Weisman.

"Previous petitions asked for Netflix or CN to revive the series, to WB Animation to make a movie to wrap things up. This new petition is to persuade DC Comics to continue the story in comic book form, with Christopher Jones and Greg Weisman," the petition copy explains. "We want to show DC that we fell in love with Earth-16 and we want to know what happens next. 'Young Justice' influence has been seen in other DC projects, it would only be fair that the series continues as a comic book and graphic novels."

With the series recent Blu-ray release, and return to Netflix's streaming catalogue, voice actors Danica McKellar (Miss Martian) and Khary Payton (Aqualad) have encouraged fans to binge-watch the show's only two seasons, and use the hashtag #KeepBingingYJ to encourage Netflix to revive the series. Weisman kicked off the current round of hope, urging fans to "watch all eps over and over" and buy the Blu-rays in order to show that there's still interest in the show.

"Young Justice" ran from 2010-2013 on Cartoon Network, lasting two seasons and 46 episodes. The show's cancellation was announced three years ago, in January 2013, leading to a fan petition to renew the show.
