Thousands of Marvel fans are petitioning Disney and Marvel Studios to cast Danny DeVito as the iconic mutant Wolverine.

The Change.org petition is listed as "Have Danny Devito play the rebooted Wolverine in the MCU." The petition's text goes on to explain the perspective of this proposition:

"The only man able to take the throne after Hugh Jackman. We believe that if Wolverine is to make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that the only man able to pull it off is Danny Devito."

Wolverine was originally played by Jackman in the original X-Men franchise, a role that stretched across 17 years and nine films. He ended his tenure as the popular clawed hero in the film Logan.

While it might seem silly to argue that Danny DeVito should play Wolverine, the petition, as of the time of this writing, has almost 12 thousand signatures. The petition hopes to get 15 thousand, which, at the rate it is going, it should surpass.

This is not be the first fan campaign designed to get DeVito cast in a major pop culture role. Many fans wanted DeVito to play Pikachu in Detective Pikachu, though the part ultimately went to Ryan Reynolds.
