A new piece of fan art stars The Batman's Robert Pattinson as the Batman Who Laughs from the Dark Nights: Metal series by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo.

Shared on Instagram, the fan art features Pattinson sporting a Batman cowl with the spiked visor of which the Batman Who Laughs is known. Pattinson is also wearing a big, Joker-like smile. "Robert Pattinson as The Batman Who Laughs," said the artist. "Would you all like to see a live action adaptation of TBWL?"

In Dark Nights: Metal, the Batman Who Laughs was depicted as an alternate version of the Dark Knight with traits of both Bruce Wayne and the Joker. The character first appeared in 2017's Dark Days: The Casting #1 and would later become a main villain in the Superman/Batman series.

Robert Pattinson is set to star as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Matt Reeves' The Batman. The film will showcase Batman's early career as a detective and crime-fighter and will feature several popular characters from the comic series, including Catwoman, Alfred Pennyworth and the Penguin.

Production on The Batman was recently put on hold due to the coronavirus outbreak. While The Batman still has a release date of June 25, 2021, this could be subject to change if the delay lasts longer than expected.
