To the surprise of almost no-one, Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane is going into movies. The creator of the hit Fox show (as well as American Dad and The Cleveland Show, and appearances in ABC's FlashForward) will direct and produce Ted, a comedy about the relationship between a man and his teddy bear, from a script he co-wrote with Family Guy writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild.

According to Deadline Hollywood, the "Hard R" Ted will mix live action and CGI which, when combined with MacFarlane's brand of humor, makes me expect a dirtier take on Calvin and Hobbes. The movie is expected to start production later this year.
