A new photo for Disney+'s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has introduced Sam Wilson's younger sister, Sarah, to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Created by Gene Colan and Stan Lee, Sarah Wilson first appeared in 1971's Captain America #134. After Sarah's husband, Mr. Casper, died, Sam tried to look after her son, Jody Casper, and helped him turn his life around after a dangerous encounter with the law. Sarah will be played by Adepero Oduye in the MCU.

Falcon and Winter Soldier - Anthony Mackie, Kari Skogland and Adepero Oduye

The photo shows Anthony Mackie, reprising his role as Falcon/Sam Wilson, with director Kari Skogland and Oduye on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier set. However, Marvel Studios has yet to reveal Sarah's role in the series, much less whether she will be returning in future MCU shows and films.

Oduye broke out as an actor thanks to her performance in Dee Rees' critically-acclaimed 2011 drama Pariah, in which she played a young queer woman who struggles to embrace her identity. The movie was based on Rees' 2007 short film of the same name, also starring Oduye as the character Alike. Oduye has since appeared in the Oscar-winning movies 12 Years a Slave and The Big Short, along with Ava DuVernay's award-winning 2019 Netflix miniseries When They See Us.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will pick up in the aftermath of Avengers; Endgame, which ended with Steve Rogers passing the Captain America shield on to Sam. According to its synopsis, the series will follow Sam and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) as they team up for a "global adventure that tests their abilities -- and their patience," pitting them against threats both new and old. Those dangers include Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, reprising his role from 2016's Captain America: Civil War and finally wearing Zemo's mask from the Marvel comic books.

A recent report indicated anticipation for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier among viewers is even higher than its fellow Disney+ show The Mandalorian. Comparing the data to Marvel's WandaVision series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is ahead by 43 percent in terms of anticipation.

Directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell, Noah Mills, Carl Lumbly and Daniel Brühl. The series premieres March 19 on Disney+.
