WARNING: The following contains spoilers for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Episode 6, "One World, One People," now streaming on Disney+.

In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's finale, the stakes were raised so high that there were bound to be casualties, no matter how much Sam (Anthony) or Bucky (Sebastian Stan) try to minimize the body count on either side. Seeing as that the Flag Smashers raided the Global Repatriation Council meeting regarding the vote for the Patch Act, it'd be incredulous not to expect the government to send the cavalry in to save the day.

Interestingly, while many of Karli's agents do fall in battle, one Marvel Cinematic Universe legacy villain is also killed in cold blood: Batroc the Leaper.

Played by Georges St. Pierre, an MMA legend and former UFC champion, Batroc has been one of the most intriguing characters in the MCU to date. He debuted in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, engaging in a brilliant fight with Chris Evans' Steve Rogers only to be knocked out and arrested aboard a ship. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier brought him back to run a mission across Tunisia-Libya airspace in the premiere, just to be foiled by Falcon. Now, the finale has him getting his rematch after Sharon Carter freed him from captivity in Algiers, paying him to join Karli's team.

Batroc fights Sam once more -- this time as the new Cap -- but he's bested yet again as Sam uses his shield and martial arts skills to full effect. Unfortunately, Sam can't place Batroc in cuffs as he has delegates to rescue, so he flies off over New York waters. This allows Batroc to free the other Flag Smashers, using gas grenades when Bucky and John Walker try to apprehend them. But Batroc also has something else on his agenda: figuring out who hired him to spy on Karli and make sure she didn't go off the rails.

It culminates in Batroc finding and holding Karli at gunpoint just as she's about to shoot Sharon. At this point, Karli reveals that Sharon's actually the Power Broker and she betrayed her, stealing the serum when the plan was to destabilize the world together. Batroc's pissed hearing this as he doesn't trust Sharon, knowing her history with S.H.I.E.L.D., and he demands four times his payment that was agreed upon.

If his terms aren't met, Batroc will eliminate Karli and leak Sharon's criminal identity. This would spoil Sharon's plans, especially as she really hopes Karli could be her understudy again and bring her soldiers back to Madripoor. Left with no choice, Sharon improvises and quickly shoots Batroc point blank a couple times -- but in the hail of gunfire exchanged, she gets shot too.

Lucky for her, it's not fatal, but as Karli surveys Batroc's lifeless body on the ground, it's clear that Sharon's far gone. Agent 13 is dead -- only the Power Broker remains -- and to protect her secret and assets Batroc had to pay the ultimate price. It confirms Sharon as a cutthroat villain and reminds Karli that everyone's expendable in her chess game.

Directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell, Noah Mills, Carl Lumbly and Daniel Brühl. The series is available on Disney+.
