Although he entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the Falcon in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson was bestowed both the mantle and shield of Captain America by Steve Rogers at the end of 2019's Avengers: Endgame following the latter's return as an old man following a time-traveling mission to return the Infinity Stones to their proper time period. While Sam has yet to don a costume as his new alter ego, a prototype figure teases what Sam may look like as the Star-Spangled Avenger in Disney+'s upcoming The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series.

Shared on Reddit's Disney Toybox subreddit, a photo of the purported prototype shows both the similarities and differences Sam's Captain America costume in the Marvel Cinematic Universe might have from the one worn by his comic book counterpart. As you can see, while the overall look is similar, the toy does indicate some notable changes, including Sam wearing a pair of stylized goggles instead of a mask with goggles, along with a red belt and red pants.

In the comics, Sam Wilson’s stint as the tenth Captain America only lasted a few years. The character took up the identity of the Sentinel of Liberty from a then-depowered and elderly Steve Rogers in 2014 before eventually resuming his identity as the Falcon in 2017. However, unlike the comics where he eventually returned to his Falcon identity, Sam becoming the new Captain America may very well be a permanent change in the MCU considering Steve Rogers' final Avengers: Endgame fate.
