Chris Evans has shot down any hope of Captain America returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a part of the Disney+'s The Falcon and The Winter Solider.

"No, probably not. Probably not," Evans told ET when asked about the possibility of a comeback. "I mean it was really tough to — there was a million ways that whole tenure with Marvel could have gone wrong and it didn't, and so to stick the landing so well, it would be a shame to kind of revisit unless there was something very unique that we felt the need to reveal. So for now, it just feels like let's just… let's be content with how well it ended."

Evans has played Steve Rogers/Captain America since Captain America: The First Avenger was released in 2011, and the character received his swan song ending during the finale of this year's Avengers: Endgame. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is currently in production and will be released on Disney+ in fall 2020.

Directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell and Daniel Brühl and will be available on Disney+ in fall 2020.
