Falcon was already a loved character in the Marvel comics, but the MCU has really pushed him to the forefront for some casual fans. Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie, has become one of the core members of Captain America's squad. He and Steve Rogers became quick friends, and Sam trusted him immediately, even helping him find Bucky Barnes, who at the time, was a brainwashed assassin.

Now that Chris Evans, who plays Captain America, will be hanging up the shield, fans are curious to see whether or not his best friend Bucky Barnes, or if Sam Wilson will be putting on the suit. While Bucky may seem like an obvious choice, here are some reasons as to why Sam Wilson should be the next Captain America.

10 BUCKY DESERVES A BREAK

Let's just get Bucky out of the way with our first entry. After being a brainwashed assassin, losing an arm, fighting in a world war, undergoing a superhero civil war, and then being dusted...it would be nice for him to take a long and well deserved rest.

Many fans want Steve Rogers to go into retirement, and those same fans are hoping that Bucky Barnes joins him. While that likely won't be the case considering the Falcon and Winter Soldier series that will be coming about, we can at least hope that Bucky won't have to deal with being the new leader of the new Avengers.

9 SAM WOULD BE A BETTER CAPTAIN THAN BUCKY

This is kind of obvious. Bucky may have once been a team player, but after everything that has happened to him, he simply sticks close to Steve. He doesn't go out of his way to talk or be with anyone else, but will always help if someone needs him.

However, Sam would take the role of leadership seriously, and he would prove himself to be an amazing Captain America. He would be able to work with others efficiently, whereas Bucky would probably do a lot of scowling.

8 HE WOULD BE GOOD AT MAKING HARD DECISIONS

Everything a leader has to do is hard, and between Sam and Bucky, it is pretty clear just from personality types that Sam would be better at making decisions than Bucky. Once upon a time, when Bucky was running The Howling Commandos, Bucky was great at making decisions.

However, 70 years of war has messed him up far too much. Sam suffers from wars himself, but he has always been good at making decisions for himself and for people around him since the beginning.

7 HE IS ALREADY A SKILLED SOLDIER

Although the same can definitely be said for Bucky, it's still a pro worth mentioning. Considering his ability to use his suit to fly, he is also a skilled soldier. We have seen him use hand to hand combat, and he has used various kinds of weapons.

He is highly intelligent and because of all of these things, it would contribute to him becoming an amazing Captain America. Not just that, but when compared to Steve Rogers, he follows the same kind of code: he is not a perfect soldier, but he is a good man.

6 IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO SEE HIM GOING TO STEVE FOR ADVICE

If Sam would become the new Captain America, it would allow for some interesting conversations to go on between Steve and Sam. Steve would be able to impart his wisdom when needed or wanted, and Sam would be able to see if it applied to his situation.

More than that, like in the comics, it would be interesting to see if their ideas or decision making skills would ever come to a crossroads. If Sam would make a decision that Steve would never make, and how it would affect their friendship, from one Captain to another.

5 HE WOULDN'T LOOK TO S.H.I.E.L.D

Considering Sam came into the Avengers at a time where S.H.I.E.L.D was already up in the air on who and what they were supposed to be, Sam wouldn't bother with it at all. He wouldn't look into rebuilding it and working for them.

Sam would be able to be more independent in his workings as Captain America, allowing him to be the best version of himself. Not being a part of an organization would give him more freedom and would allow him to avoid the mistakes that Steve (unknowingly) made by working for an organization. It's better to work alone than under the government.

4 THE WORLD NEEDS A BLACK CAPTAIN AMERICA

Both in the MCU and in today's political climate, it would mean a lot to have a black Captain America. However, even beyond the world of politics, it's time for a black Captain America, just in general. It's long overdue in many ways.

While Steve Rogers had a wonderful and emotional run, it's time for POC characters to take the limelight in the MCU. Representation matters, we have seen that with Black Panther and this is one of the next big steps that the MCU should be making.

3 He Is In Better Standing With The Government Than Bucky

While Sam Wilson's Captain America would likely work more independently rather than working with the government, it is still important for him to be in good standing with them. The government feels better about superheroes rather than vigilantes.

While it wasn't Bucky's fault, it's unlikely that the government would feel comfortable with the title of Captain America resting with a one-time Soviet assassin. Even if Sam sided with Steve Rogers, he's still served plenty of time with the U.S military and S.H.I.E.L.D. He is a reliable soldier.

2 HE'S A TEAM PLAYER

From the moment Sam met Steve Rogers, he pledged his loyalty, and it wasn't because Steve was a famous Avenger. Sam was loyal from the very beginning, and he continued to be loyal, even if it meant turning himself into a wanted outlaw from the government.

Bucky, at this point in his life, while he doesn't mind helping out, seems to want to stick to Steve, and just Steve. Sam is more than okay to play with others. He is a great helper, and he can both take the lead and help out from the side. Whoever needs them, he runs to help, even if they have had differences in the past.

1 HE IS LEVEL HEADED

Sam is already a little bit calmer than Steve. Steve is a very emotional leader, sometimes that works out in his favor, but Sam takes a bit more time to assess the situations. When they're looking for Bucky, Sam actually tells Steve that they might have to give up the notion of hope and that Bucky may not be a good person anymore.

Whereas Steve is adamant that they continue their search, Sam agrees but is still cautious. If Sam would be the leader, he would be able to make decisions on a less emotional level than Steve.
