While The Falcon and the Winter Soldier may not generate as many fan theories as WandaVision, the identity of the Power Broker has created quite the mystery.

Emily VanCamp spoke to Variety about the return of Sharon Carter to the MCU, and the actor dove into how much her character has changed since 2016's Captain America: Civil War. She's gotten edgier and seems to be dabbling in some nefarious businesses, which has led many to assume she's the unseen Power Broker. But what does VanCamp think of this theory?

"Well, that’s a good question," VanCamp replied. "I mean, the Power Broker could be anybody. Also, there are several characters that have yet to be seen. So, I mean, I can’t say anything."

In the comics, the Power Broker has a long history of amping up regular folks with superpowers, and that element has at least crossed over into the MCU. On the new Disney+ series, the Flag Smashers have all the super-abilities that Captain America and Bucky have, and episode 3 got dangerously close to revealing the person behind the scenes. Instead, Sharon Carter returned and saved Bucky, Sam and Zemo, but is her darker side an indication that she's the show's secret villain.

VanCamp delved into how the show took the source material for Agent 13 and tweaked it in light of what Sharon went through following the Sokovia Accords. Essentially, she's been given more edge, but how much?

"You get this fundamental idea of who the character is, and I tried to implement into films who Sharon was — that deep respect, and sense of integrity and loyalty that she has," VanCamp said.. "Then to strip away that after being in her mind quite wronged — to put that on its head was just a really fun idea to me. There’s still a few more episodes to see where we go with that, but it was just fascinating that we would take a different route completely with her."

While Sharon appears to be on the hero's side for now, she certainly has a bone to pick with the Avengers and their allies, who abandoned her following Civil War. But whether she went so far as to create more super soldiers is yet to be seen.
