A new source claims the TV rating for Marvel Studios' The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be similar to other mature shows.

A Redditor revealed that the Dutch film and television rating board, Kijkwijzer, gave the upcoming Disney+ show a 16+ rating for "violence" and "coarse language." While it hasn't received a U.S. rating yet, other media with this rating includes DaredevilJessica Jones and Game of Thrones. Similar to TV-MA, this classification means The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be the most mature rated Marvel Studios property, though it looks to fit the tone of Netflix's Defenders shows that Marvel Television produced.

All other Marvel Studios properties carry a 12+ rating, while stateside, WandaVision had a TV-PG rating at first before it gained a TV-14 rating. This likely marks the noted shift in tone and violence between the first few episodes, which homaged classic sitcoms, and the more recent ones, which have seen the real world infiltrate Wanda and Vision's suburban life.

When Daredevil debuted, it was noted for its PG-13 tone and heavy use of violence, honoring the character and the comics. But for the Disney-owned Marvel, it was a rarity. Jessica JonesThe Punisher and the other shows in the Defenders universe followed suit, but fans have yet to see a Marvel Studios movie display a similar amount of violence. This latest news proves The Falcon and The Winter Soldier may finally bring that level of intensity to the MCU proper, all the more surprising given its home on Disney+.

The Super Bowl trailer for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier offered the latest taste of the show's tone, one that will see Zemo and others fight to tear down superheroes. Fight scenes and big action set pieces were on full display in the trailer, with even Sharon Carter getting a brutal showcase. Now, it seems that this look at the show is just scratching the surface.

In the wider MCU canon, it was recently revealed that Deadpool 3 will be the first R-rated Marvel Studios film. This confirms that Disney will not shy away from non-family-friendly material. Similarly, shows like It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which Disney now owns, aren't going anywhere, so it seems that the House of Mouse is fine with more mature content across its banners and platforms.
