The opening weekend of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier now holds the record as the most-watched series premiere on Disney+.

From Friday, March 19 to Sunday, March 22, Falcon and Winter Soldier became the most-watched title overall for the same time period on a global basis, including in Disney+ Hotstar markets. This puts Falcon and Winter Soldier alongside its fellow Marvel Studios series WandaVision and the Season 2 premiere of Star Wars' The Mandalorian as the three most-watched Disney+ Original series opening weekends to-date.

The first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier picks up six months after Avengers: Endgame, where Captain America passed his shield to Sam Wilson. Now, the series follows Sam and Bucky Barnes as they navigate fitting into a world in chaos following The Blip, which saw everyone turned to dust by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War brought back to life five years later. While Sam turned over Cap's shield to the American government, Bucky struggled to readjust to civilian life. The premiere episode ended with the government introducing US Agent as Captain America's replacement.

We also meet a terrorist organization called the Flag-Smashers, who want to return to a world without borders during the five-year gap witnessed in Endgame. Future episodes of Falcon and Winter Soldier will see the returns of Sharon Carter and Helmut Zemo.

Directed by Kari Skogland and written by Malcolm Spellman, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell, Noah Mills, Carl Lumbly and Daniel Brühl. New episodes air Fridays on Disney+.
