WARNING: The following contains spoilers for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Episode 1, "New World Order," now streaming on Disney+.

The long-awaited The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series premiered on Disney+, and the internet is already buzzing with theories; however, it appears that citizens in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have their own theories regarding recent events. Being that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame, where Captain America handed over the mantle to Sam Wilson, citizens in-universe wonder where the Star Spangled Man disappeared to, and a brief discussion between Sam and his Air Force contact, Joaquin Torres, reveals what people think happened to Steve Rogers.

As previously stated, Steve handed his shield to Sam in Endgame, clearly wanting him to become the next Captain America. Throughout Episode 1, Sam is conflicted about taking on the mantle, convinced he's not worthy of the title or responsibility, but he's still performing his duty as Falcon.

After a mission, Sam and Joaquin meet in a market in Tunisia. They converse about the Air Force, Stark-level tech and the new terrorist organization, the Flag Smashers. Joaquin ensures he's keeping an eye out online for any suspicious Flag Smasher leads, but Joaquin also admits he's come across some interesting conspiracy theories regarding Steve Rogers' whereabouts. As Sam listens, amused by the whole thing, Joaquin drops a specific theory about how some people think Captain America is on a secret moon base.

While Sam denies this, Joaquin isn't convinced, even asking if he ever flies up to see him. While the other theories aren't discussed, it appears that the moon theory is a popular one, but Sam is insistent that's not where Cap is, and he seems rather entertained by the theory. However, it's appears he knows something about his friend's location.

As the conversation comes to a close and Sam begins to leave, Joaquin asks Sam where he's going. After telling Joaquin he's off to Washington, Joaquin questions what's going on there, which Sam responds with, "moon stuff," implying he's dealing with matters surrounding Captain America.

It's clear Falcon is still strongly connected to Captain America through their bond, their past experiences and his conflicting feelings about taking up the mantle. It's also possible that he knows where Steve truly is, but only time will tell where the old Cap is hiding out.

Directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell, Noah Mills, Carl Lumbly and Daniel Brühl. The series is currently streaming on Disney+.
