For several years now, devoted fans of Zack Snyder's Justice League have been demanding the release of the director's original vision-- the appropriately labelled "Snyder Cut." Internet trolls took to social media on April 1 to prank numerous Snyder Cut fans.

Under the guise of HBO Max, the fake account announced, "We're releasing the Zack Snyder's Justice League as a launch title for #HBOMax on May 2020." The post was accompanied by an image of the eponymous League with Doomsday and his minions looming large in the background of the faux-poster.

Some may have recognized the poster immediately. The image was originally created by graphic artist BossLogic using the characters from the film alongside additions such as Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter, the latter of which was created using the CW's Supergirl version of the character as a basis.

Fans have been treated to a plethora of details from Snyder himself over the years. The director has revealed cut characters, plot points and sequences, with Doomsday being one of the most significant omissions from the theatrical release of the film.

Snyder was the original director behind Justice League until a personal tragedy forced him to step away from the project. Director Joss Whedon stepped in as a replacement, resulting in a number of major cuts and alterations to the original plan for the film. As of yet, there are no official plans to release a "Snyder Cut" in any form.

Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.
