Natsu Dragneel is an immensely powerful fire wizard and Dragon Slayer from the Fairy Tail Guild. Throughout the series, Natsu has been faced with several challenges which he had to overcome for the sake of his guild and the world at large. 10 Zero Wanted To Destroy All That Stood, But Natsu Stopped Him
Defeating the Oracion Seis broke the seal on Master Zero, an evil villain who was so terrible that even other villains wanted him gone. Zero was on a path of mindless destruction, but he had to contend with Natsu who wasn't having any of it. For some time, it seemed Natsu had bitten off more than he could chew by challenging Zero. Just when Zero was about to destroy Natsu, Natsu dug deep and unleashed a fraction of Igneel's power, which was was enough to scare and overwhelm Zero.
9 Natsu Was Strong Enough To Destroy The Battle God, Ikusatsunagi
A dark cult known as Avatar planned to wipe out an entire city to gain enough sacrifices to summon Zeref. They were confronted by Natsu and his friends who began cutting down their entire army. At the climax of this battle, the leader of the cult summoned a battle god known as Ikusatsunagi.
This was a humongous being who even terrified the members of Avatar. Natsu however, was unfazed and ran along Ikusatsunagi's sword. Natsu was angry at the fact that the leader of Avatar didn't care that his people were being stomped on by the battle god. After summoning the power of the Fire Dragon King, Natsu unleashed a devastating strike that utterly demolished Ikusatsunagi.
8 Natsu Was Able To Stop Laxus From Tearing The Guild Apart
Laxus rebelled against his grandfather, Makarov, and attempted to take control of the guild by force. He designed a game that pitted the guild members against each other. This resulted in a lot of broken bonds as friends had no choice but to take each other out.
Natsu, on the other hand, was only interested in fighting Laxus. He was nearly defeated, but Gajeel came to his rescue. They fought Laxus together until it got to a point where Natsu could fight Laxus on his own again, though Gajeel had to save him yet again. With every ounce of power he could muster, Natsu unleashed a barrage of attacks on Laxus and subdued him. The fight was a draw, but Natsu saved the guild.
7 Natsu Somehow Managed To Beat Jellal And Save Erza
During the Tower Of Heaven Arc, Jellal set his plan to revive Zeref in motion. He planned to use Erza as a sacrifice to activate the R-System, but Natsu intervened and challenged the Wizard Saint. Obviously, Natsu struggled seeing as he was up against a Wizard Saint, but fitting for his character, he didn't give up. By sheer instinct, he began eating shards of etherion instead of fire, which allowed him to unknowingly unleash his dragon force. With this power, Natsu was able to give Jellal a good fight and ultimately beat him.
6 Natsu Defeated Midnight Of The Neo Oracion Seis And Saved The World From Chaos
Midnight led the Neo Oracion Seis on their quest to activate the infinity clock and bring chaos to the world. This resulted in a chain of bad occurrences throughout the kingdom, but the Fairy Tail Guild took it upon themselves to save the world and the captured Lucy. While his friends challenged other members of the Neo Oracion Seis, Natsu went on to fight Midnight. Their fight was reminiscent of Natsu's fight against Zero as Natsu nearly met the exact same fate. After overcoming death thanks to Lucy, he found the strength to continue fighting and defeat Midnight.
5 Natsu Decimated Sting & Rogue During The Grand Magic Games
The Twin Dragons of Sabertooth Guild, Sting and Rogue, were fond of letting people know that they were the epitome of strength. They made fun of Natsu and Gajeel during the Grand Magic Games, but they soon ate their words when Natsu fought them. Natsu easily overwhelmed Sting and Rogue without even relying on his true strength. The match resulted in a very satisfying victory for Fairy Tail, and thanks to Natsu, Fairy Tail earned the top spot in the tournament.
4 Natsu Defeated Rogue And Stopped His Dragons From Rampaging
Rogue's evil future self traveled back in time through the Eclipse Gate in order for his dragons to successfully pass through. Seven dragons managed to make it through, and they wreaked havoc in the city of Crocus. Natsu fought Rogue with all he had, fully aware of the stakes.
He even roused the seven Dragon Slayers present to fight, seeing as they were up against seven dragons. It was discovered that destroying the Eclipse Gate would force the dragons to return to their timeline. The Gate proved to be impervious to all attempts to destroy it, but Natsu soon came flying in. He smashed Rogue and his dragon into the Gate, thereby destroying it and saving the day.
3 Natsu Saved The Celestial Spirit King From Absorbing Himself
The world was in chaos due to an imbalance in the Celestial Realm. It turned out the Eclipse Gate affected the Celestial Spirits and caused them to go on a rampage. The Celestial Spirit Beast, the eclipse form of the Celestial Spirit King, was about to absorb the real Celestial Spirit King, but Natsu saved him.
Natsu and Happy had gone into the body of the beast to stop it from the inside, and after powering up by eating magic from the beast's belly, Natsu unleashed his secret art spell and destroyed the beast. The Celestial Spirit King later thanked Natsu for his heroic deed.
2 Natsu Subdued Zeref Enough For Mavis To Carry Out Her Plan
During their final battle against Zeref and his forces, Natsu confronted Zeref and the both of them entered into a deadly battle for what they believed in. Natsu gave it all he had and fought Zeref to the very end. Even after Zeref gained the power of the Fairy Heart, Natsu still persevered and managed to subdue Zeref, who couldn't die by virtue of him being immortal. Natsu then left Zeref to Mavis to carry out her plan and finish the job. Zeref was the theme of many battles Fairy Tail faced, so subduing him was quite the accomplishment for Natsu.
1 Natsu Landed The Final Blow On Acnologia And Saved The World
The Dragon Slayers were in an epic fight with the Dragon King, Acnologia who wished to bring about world destruction. They were mostly on the losing side as Acnologia's power was so immense and overwhelming. All their efforts seemed to be for naught until Wendy Marvel enchanted all their power into Natsu.
Many viewers may argue that any of the Dragon Slayers, especially Laxus, would have been perfect for the job. While that may be true, it doesn't change the fact that Natsu was the one who did the deed. He took the Raging Flame of the Seven Dragons, and with it, he landed the finishing blow on Acnologia and took him down.
