Fairy Tail is a hit shonen anime all about colorful magic and the power of friendship, and the members of the Fairy Tail guild know that better than anyone. These wizards use an impressive variety of magic, from elemental sorcery to celestial summoning, to fight dark guilds and monsters of all sorts. And they also understand the value of teamwork.
All this makes the Fairy Tail guild loosely similar to the mighty Avengers of MCU fame, and given the chance, Nick Fury would approach the Fairy Tail guild and scout out some potential recruits to join his team and defend Earth from Thanos and other threats. Nick has high standards, though, and not every Fairy Tail wizard will get an invitation.
10 COULD JOIN THE AVENGERS: Erza Scarlet Is A Master Of The Sword
Erza Scarlet uses spatial magic to access all her weapons and many suits of armor from an alternate dimension, and that makes her incredibly flexible on the battlefield. She has a suit of armor for every type of enemy, from fire users to ice and lightning users, and that should serve her well in the MCU, too.
Erza is not only tough but also an offensive powerhouse, boasting a variety of swords and spears in her collection and the skill to use them. She can even perform a handful of ranged attacks to take down many foes, such as the invading Chitauri army or Ultron's robots, at once.
9 COULDN'T JOIN THE AVENGERS: Lisanna Isn't Quite Strong Enough
Lisanna Strauss is the youngest of the three Strausses, and she uses Take Over magic to morph her body into that of various animals. In particular, Lisanna likes to give herself bird wings for flight, or become a cat girl to perform rapid melee attacks.
That's not bad, but there are many stronger Fairy Tail wizards, and Lisanna can't compete with them during Avengers tryouts. She also lacks the endurance and resolve to be an Avenger. She's better off with her own guild.
8 COULD JOIN THE AVENGERS: Lucy's Celestial Magic Is Flexible
Early in Fairy Tail, the celestial wizard Lucy Heartfilia wasn't strong enough to qualify as an Avenger, since she relied entirely on her summoned spirits and had no defenses of her own. It would be too easy for the Avengers' enemies to outflank Lucy and dispatch her, but later, she fixed this.
Lucy can now use a variety of star dresses to boost her own abilities according to her summoned spirit, and while she still isn't terribly tough, this should be enough for most Avengers missions. Her spirits also make her quite flexible, from Scorpio's sands to Horologium's defenses and certainly Taurus' ax attacks.
7 COULDN'T JOIN THE AVENGERS: Elfman Strauss Is Somewhat Redundant
Elfman Strauss uses Take Over magic, just like Mirajane and Lisanna, and he tends to turn himself into beasts to deliver devastating melee attacks. He narrowly defeated Bacchus Grohl during the Grand Magic Games tournament, but overall, he doesn't stand out that much in the Fairy Tail guild.
Elfman can hit hard, but so can the Incredible Hulk, who is difficult to beat at his own game. Nick would appreciate Elfman's enthusiasm and power, but he doesn't need two Hulks for most missions against Hydra or Thanos.
6 COULD JOIN THE AVENGERS: Laxus Dreyar Is An Alternate Thor
For the most part, Nick Fury doesn't want to recruit wizards who overlap with the existing Avengers, but he may make an exception for Laxus Dreyar, the lightning dragon slayer. Laxus uses powerful electric attacks, just like the Asgardian warrior Thor, but he can do a few things that even Thor cannot.
Unlike Thor, Laxus can morph his body into a lightning bolt to travel at lightspeed across the battlefield, giving him superior mobility. In addition, Laxus can actually eat lightning to power up, and Thor could lend him some lightning to boost his power even more. Laxus and Thor would work well together.
5 COULDN'T JOIN THE AVENGERS: Panther Lily Is Too Simple
Panther Lily is a powerful humanoid panther who once commanded many troops in the kingdom of Edolas, and now he is Gajeel Redfox's Exceed companion. He isn't always in his muscle form, but when the fighting starts, he'll quickly transform and pick up a large sword to fight.
Panther Lily may have some experience as a commander, but so does Captain America. Panther Lily's sword attacks, while impressive, are nothing special by Avengers standards. Worse yet, Panther Lily cannot stay in his muscle form for too long.
4 COULD JOIN THE AVENGERS: Bisca Connell Is A Ranged Specialist
Bisca Connell is a skilled sharpshooter, and she and her husband Alzack both combine magic with firearms to great effect. While Alzack handles close-range combat, Bisca focuses on sniping, and she never misses a target. Hawkeye the archer has some competition.
It's true that Hawkeye's arrowheads make him a bit more flexible, but not even he can actually use magic to make his projectiles home in on the target, while Bisca can. If Hawkeye can't pull off a trick shot to turn the tide in battle, Bisca will handle it. She also has more ammo than Hawkeye, who is limited to one quiver of arrows.
3 COULDN'T JOIN THE AVENGERS: Alzack Connell Doesn't Add Anything New To The Avengers
Alzack's wife, Bisca, can help the Avengers in ranged combat, but Alzack himself won't make it into the Avengers. He can combine magic with firearms in short-range battle, but the Avengers already have more than one specialist in that department.
The Avengers have the armored War Machine and Iron Man to handle medium-range combat, and Alzack simply cannot compete with them. So, he will simply cheer on his wife as she joins the Avengers for a few missions.
2 COULD JOIN THE AVENGERS: Gray Fullbuster's Ice Is Very Useful
Gray Fullbuster is an ice wizard, and he would remind Marvel fans of Bobby Drake/Iceman from the X-Men comics. Just like Iceman, Gray Fullbuster can rapidly generate large amounts of ice and shape it at will, usually to form weapons or cages. Nick Fury and Professor X would both be impressed.
Gray's ice may be shattered against foes like Thanos and Ultron, but he can simply make more, and he can handle lesser foes such as the Chitauri and perhaps Thanos' lieutenants, too. He can also make ice barriers to protect the other Avengers or innocent bystanders while under fire.
1 COULDN'T JOIN THE AVENGERS: Evergreen Lacks The Necessary Firepower
Evergreen is a part of the Thunder God Tribe, a squad led by Laxus Dreyar himself. Evergreen can use eye magic to turn her enemies to stone, gorgon-style, but only if she looks directly at them first. And it only works on human targets, which would be an issue in the MCU.
Evergreen can use some magic, such as Fairy Bomb: Gremlin, but none of this will impress Nick Fury, and she has few defenses up close. In a real Avengers fight, Evergreen would fall behind in both offense and defense, so she won't get an invitation to join. She will wish Laxus the best of luck, however.
