Gray Fullbuster is one of the strongest wizards in Fairy Tail. When he isn't reflexively stripping off his clothing, Gray beats down bad guys with his mastery of Ice Magic. He practices a special brand of spells called Maker Magic, which lets him form the ice into whatever shape he wants.

As a main character and one of Natsu's rivals within the Fairy Tail guild, Gray is already pretty strong when the story starts, but he continues to surpass his limits to keep up throughout the series. Getting a boost from Devil Slayer Magic near the end doesn't hurt either.

10 Ice-Make: Rampart

Sometimes with magic, the best offense is a good defense. Naturally, Gray can use his Ice-Make magic for both attacking and protecting himself. Ice-Make: Rampart is a huge wall of ice, a powered-up version of spells like Ice-Make: Shield and Ice-Make: Wall.

Since Gray's Ice-Make moves are very situational, most special moves like this only make a random appearance here or there. Ice-Make: Rampart uses a lot of magic power, so that's another reason it doesn't come up that much. Still, this move was effective in his fight against Racer.

9 Unison Raid

Only a few wizards in the show even attempt the coordinated magical technique known as a Unison Raid. Requiring total unity between the two wizards who cast it, it's considered to be really difficult. Luckily, Gray has an unwavering admirer with water magic to sync up with when the going gets tough.

Gray and Juvia are probably the most common users of Unison Raids and their magic specialties are perfect compliments. When this will-they-won't-they couple fights together, they can summon a ton of icicles for a huge long-range attack.

8 Ice-Make Unlimited: One Sided Chaotic Dance

In typical Fairy Tail fashion, more words in the attack's name mean more power. Ice-Make Unlimited: One Sided Chaotic Dance is one of the strongest Ice-Make spells Gray pulls off before getting Devil Slayer powers.

The attack is reminiscent of Erza's Heaven's Wheel. Spinning a bunch of ice around him, Gray creates several rings of swords. He then fires the lot of them at his enemy, freezing them. Ice-Make Unlimited: One Sided Chaotic Dance is one of the critical moves Gray uses in the Grand Magical Games against Memory-Make wizard Rufus.

7 Ice-Make: Vambrace

This is definitely one of Gray's more improvised attacks. Most of his moves involve ice projectiles or structures. Ice-Make: Vambrace is an ice augmentation to his arm meant to increase his strength. Gray used this long ice arm to throw a steel ball at an incredible speed during his fight with Silver Fullbuster.

In order to defeat his revived Ice Devil Slayer father, Gray has to get creative, sending his projectile flying with enough force the pierce Silver's chest using the added power of Ice-Make: Vambrace. After this fight, Gray earns Ice Devil Slayer powers of his own.

6 Ice-Make: Silver

Gaining Ice Devil Slayer Magic made Gray a huge threat near the end of the series. Besides being able to fight with a new type of Ice Magic, Gray got a big power-up to his old Maker Magic. Ice-Make: Silver is one of the strongest moves Gray can pull off with his trademark combat style.

The move is clearly a reference and dedication to his father, Silver, who Gray killed in a complicated and confusing series of events during the Tartaros arc. It allows him to instantly freeze a huge area, and he uses it to stop Spriggan 12 Ajeel's Sand Golem, destroying it.

5 Ice Devil's Rage

Every Fairy Tail fan is familiar with the breath attacks Dragon Slayers can use, and how God Slayers and Devil Slayers often can perform equivalent spells with edgier names. After gaining his Devil Slayer Magic, Gray learns the ability to perform Ice Devil's Rage.

The attack consists of firing a huge, cold beam in a straight line. Gray doesn't get the chance to land the attack in his fight with Mard Geer, so the power of his version is up for debate. But given the strength of the move when Silver used it, Ice Devil's Rage is pretty destructive.

4 Ice Devil's Zeroth Long Sword

Channeling Gajeel a little with this move, Gray's Ice Devil's Zeroth Long Sword lets him create a sword between his hands and deliver a critical slash. After the lightning-fast strike occurs, ice forms on the wound and quickly expands to encase the enemy.

The final arcs had a lot of opportunities for the strongest Fairy Tail members to show off how far beyond the competition they are. While everyone struggled to fight the Demons of Tartaros, Gray managed to take out Etherious Form Tempester with a single hit from this move.

3 Ice Devil's Zeroth Destruction Fist

Since a Destruction Fist move is one of Natsu's strongest moves, it stands to reason that Gray's version would dominate his opponents as well. The magic seems simple enough—Gray augments his fists with ice for a melee attack—but there's more to it than that.

When Gray fights Invel, Zeref's number two, it's an ice-on-ice battle. Invel is able to use the "unholy ice" known as True-Ice Kamui, a potent armor. Unfortunately for him, Gray is able to shape that ice with Devil Slayer Magic, forming it into Ice Devil's Zeroth Destruction Fist.

2 Ice Devil's Zeroth Destruction Bow

Ice Devil's Zeroth Destruction Bow is one of the strongest Ice Devil Slayer moves Gray can use, and its long-range gives it tons of versatility. Mimicking a bow and arrow, Gray fires a fast shot of ice that could take down pretty much anyone.

The whole point of Devil Slayer Magic is to slay devils (also called demons), so it makes sense that this technique was effective against Tartaros' leader, Mard Geer. Even landing a hit on one of Zeref's strongest fighters is a big deal, and Gray manages to deal significant damage to him with this move.

1 Iced Shell

If Gray has proved anything over the course of Fairy Tail, it's that he has the power and willingness to pull off this last-resort technique. Thankfully, though he starts it many times, Gray is never permitted to complete the fatal spell that set him on his path to Fairy Tail.

Iced Shell is an ultimate ice spell that uses the caster's body to create a (mostly) unbreakable frozen seal around a target. Gray's master, Ur, gave her life to protect her students by casting Iced Shell on the demon Deliora. Gray always has this in his back pocket, from the first season to the final confrontation with Zeref.
