In Japanese, Cana's voice actress is Eri Kitamura, known for her work on series like Toradora and PreCure.
9 FIRST OF THE NEW GENERATION
Cana is one of the oldest of the “current” generation of Fairy Tail mages. While the guild has been around for a hundred years, the current crop of mages that includes Erza, Gray, Natsu, Mirajane, and Cana are the ones that will grow into the future leaders of Fairy Tail.
Surprisingly, Cana was there before any of the others, including Natsu, Erza, Mirajane, and her family. Cana was the first child to arrive and she befriended the other members of the guild.
8 BEGAN DRINKING YOUNG
One of the main character traits everyone remembers about Cana is that she’s a heavy drinker. This habit began when she was incredibly young. In fact, she was literally only thirteen years old when she began, which is quite a bit below most countries' legal limits.
However, it’s nearly impossible for Cana to actually get drunk, and she’s responsible for almost thirty percent of Fairy Tail’s alcohol budget.
7 WANTS TO BECOME AN S-CLASS MAGE
When the series begins, Cana’s biggest desire is to become one of the S-Ranked mages in the series. Every year, right before the S-Class Trials, she winds up putting a ton of pressure on herself because she wants to become an S-Ranked mage more than anything else.
During the last S-Class trials, Cana even went so far as to betray Lucy while they were in combat just so she could go ahead and “win,” though she would later change her mind.
6 GILDARTS' DAUGHTER
One of the earliest hidden secrets revealed about Fairy Tail is that Cana is actually Gildarts’ daughter. Her mother is the only woman Gildarts ever married, and she left Gildarts because he was too caught up in his work.
Early on, Cana put a bunch of pressure on herself to become an S-Ranked mage out of the belief that once she reached that level, she would be able to tell Gildarts that he was her father. But she eventually broke down and explained, and afterward, Gildarts became a doting father watching over her.
5 FAIRY GLITTER
In the middle of the series, Cana is granted the power of Fairy Glitter, one of the most powerful spells in the Fairy Tail arsenal. It’s nearly as powerful as Fairy Law, one of the other Three Great Magics, and takes incredible magical power to actually use.
Cana was originally granted this spell by Mavis to help out during the battle against Grimoire Heart, but she would later come to own this power herself, mastering it and adding it to her arsenal.
4 HAD A CRUSH ON MACAO
Mentioned during chapter 38 of the manga, Cana once had a crush on Macao Conbolt, a major Fairy Tail member from the elder era. It's understandable, as Macao played the role of a drinking buddy and the kind of guy she found appealing.
Macao once told Cana to ease back on drinking so much, which she actually listened to out of a desire to make the guy she liked happy. Unfortunately, when she learned that Macao had a girlfriend he was seeing, Cana not only started drinking again but took it to a worse level than before.
3 A GAMBLER
Cana is a hard drinker, but she’s also into other things that make her the most fun member of Fairy Tail. She loves getting into fights just like them, but she has also served as a bookie, holding people’s money in the background while betting on who will win a specific fight.
It’s something fans don’t see from her often, but she has no problem involving herself in her guild’s antics.
2 THE MAGIC OF THE CARDS
Cana’s best ability is that of Holder Magic. This is represented in the form of cards that happen to give her the ability to do nearly anything. There’s no limit on these powers as they aren’t well-defined, which in theory makes her one of the most powerful mages in Fairy Tail.
Cana can also use them to tell people’s fortunes, something she did more often when she was much younger.
1 WOKE UP MAVIS
This was one of the more desperate moments in the Alvarez Empire arc. With everyone realizing the entire Alvarez Empire was coming to take Mavis because she was a source of infinite magic, the first thing they wound up doing to fight back was waking Mavis up completely.
To do so, it took Cana using the power of Fairy Glitter to finally shatter the crystal Mavis was inside and to allow her to finally get back up again.
