It's still saddening to know that Fairy Tail's been concluded and Mashima is moving onto a new series. For all it's flaws, the series was just as good as the Big Three were at its height. That string of arcs from Galuna Island till Tenrou Island was really great and packed with a good deal of emotion.

With the series over, the only way we are ever going to get new creations is through the fans. It's what makes fan art so great as it lets you get to see the series through someone else's eyes. Sometimes you end up with non-canon couples or even battle scenes that never got to play out. In any event, here's some great fan art to help you remember why Fairy Tail was so great.

10 All Fired Up

Flames and Natsu go together like peanut butter and jelly. Ar-ua does a great job on the fire, keeping it a bright yellow while having embers and ash funnel off of it. Natsu has a darker aura about him as well, grin on his face far from mischievous. He looks like he's ready to put the hurt on someone and isn't going to let anyone get in his way. The texture of his hair is fantastic as well, letting you see single strands of it along with the bigger clumps.

9 Family

Group shots are incredibly fitting for an anime like Fairy Tail where it's all about Nakama or friendship. It's what binds the guild together and helps make the show what it is. Adding in Sting and Rogue at the top helps drive that home even more as Natsu and others helped both of them see what it means to be a guild. The rest of Fairy Tail is just as happy, and friendly as you'd expect them to be, Celestial Rayna is doing a good job of that.

8 True Dragonslayer

This image is beyond badass and is part of the cool nature of the series. Even when the story started to become less engaging, the transformations or power-ups were always incredible. Nagadih does a fantastic job of showing that here with Natsu, having flames pouring off his body like steam in a shower.

The best work is done on the dragon features along the left side of his body. The scales and wings are looking great, truly capturing what it means to be a dragon slayer.

7 Together As One

They may not be the best couple in the guild, mostly because of Gray's stubborn refusal of his feelings for so long, but they are up there. Seeing Juiva and Gray working together as one was a great moment, their elements blending seamlessly together as well, each strengthening the other. Ar-ua captures that well here, having Gray's ice be more of a mist to contrast with the more solidified look of Juvia's water. Looks of pure determination on their faces are perfect as well, showing they'd do anything for the other.

6 Queen Of Blades

While the changes that Gajeel and Natsu underwent as dragon slayers were cool, no one has the track record of Erza when it comes to awesome transformations. Her magic opened doors for so many cool looks. The one above is an example of that. Kortrex added so much detail to both the swords floating behind her as well as the outfit itself. Erza's cold and calm demeanor is shown perfectly with the look in her eyes. She always looks like someone who deep down doesn't want to hurt anyone but knows it's necessary at times.

5 Firestarter

Natsu is one of the few characters in the guild that doesn't get a different outfit. He's always stuck to the same look, never without his prized scarf.

It's almost weird to see him without it, but Iitheyahikodarkii has him in something just as fitting for the character. They do a great job with the effects of the flame as well, making it look far more real than many other artists do. The fact you can even see the waves of heat coming off it is incredible.

4 Always Be There

Seeing all of the dragon slayers together with their fists raised is great, a slight call back to the finger sign made during the end of Laxus's arc (still one of the best moments in the series). Having them all standing together as one without care of their past is what Fairy Tail is all about. It's about forgiveness and togetherness, that no matter what, people can change. Celestial Rayna was smart to keep it simple as well, showing their backs rather than the front. Keeps the gaze on the symbolism of the art over anything else.

3 Celestial Spirits

The celestial spirits never get their due in the series, and neither does Lucy for that matter. Part of that is because of how Lucy is treated as a character, made into walking fan-service far too often. Beymechanic helps catalog all of them here, showing off just how diverse all of them were, none of their personalities blending into another. They were all their own characters, even if some of them were just used for comic relief like Cancer and Taurus were.

2 A Slayer & His Cat

Exceed companions are such an underrated part of being a dragon slayer, the bond they make is greater than any made with a more human companion. Happy and Natsu are a great example of that, two of them acting as if they are best friends, nothing ever being able to come between the two of them. Celestial Rayna humorously shows off what those without a cat feel like, Laxus, Cobra, and even Acnologia all looking grumpy in their own ways. It's made all the more adorable by the fact they are little chibis.

1 Peace & Love

One cool thing the anime did was the small bits after each episode with Lucy and Mirajane, two characters acting like a pair of friends teasing each other. They never got a ton of actual screen time together, but it helped show that Mirajane was always kind of like the guild mom, always ever welcoming to new members. Ornav having the two of them together here, both smiling and enjoying themselves, helps show a lot of that. Each of their outfits is very befitting for each of them as well.
