Marvel's latest entry, Black Panther, has had a whirlwind week. Just days after its premiere, the Chadwick Boseman-led film found itself the victim of a takedown campaign via Rotten Tomatoes. The group claims Disney incentives reviewers to criticize DC Extended Universe films. Their solution: sabotage Black Panther's Rotten Tomatoes user rating. The campaign eventually caught the attention of Rotten Tomatoes, which condemned the group, and now they've garnered the attention of Facebook -- with a ban.

A day after their efforts were reported, Facebook has taken action against the campaign and has officially banned the group referred to as Down With Disney’s Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys. The news comes via a screenshot courtesy of Marvel Studios News.

As previously reported, the group started the campaign as an effort to "take down Disney" as the fans felt the mouse house was responsible for the DC Extended Universe's lackluster critical reception. At the time of the posting, the group had 2,000 pledged to participate, suggesting this wasn't a massive DC fan effort, but rather a small group of passionate fans who also intended to go after Avengers: Infinity War, as well as upcoming seasons of Marvel's Netflix shows. Facebook's actions are just the latest setback for the campaign, as Rotten Tomatoes has indicated they will act swiftly to remove any fans that take to using hate speech.

Should the group decide to reform, their actions will seemingly be for naught. As with last summer's Wonder Woman, Marvel's Black Panther is a culturally important film that is set to leave its mark on the box office. While earlier box office estimates had the film tracking towards a $100 million opening stateside, the latest numbers indicate the King is all but set for a massive $150 million opening over President's Day weekend.
