Sometimes characters come back around for a second run of superheroing, and sometimes creators come back for a second run of writing them. That truth applies twice with DC Comics latest creative announcement: that writer Fabian Nicieza will come aboard "Red Robin" with June's issue #13, the publishers Souce blog reported.

As fans may recall, Nicieza was the writer who ended the Tim Drake character's run as Robin a year ago with the final issue of the sidekick's last ongoing series, paving the way for Chris Yost to relaunch Drake as Red Robin. Since then, the character has been hot on the heels of clues that point to the return of presumed dead Batman Bruce Wayne. With DC gearing up for the time traveling "Return of Bruce Wayne" epic this May, many were wondering whether the current configuration of Bat books (and the characters who star in them) would remain, but it seems for now as though "Red Robin" will soldier on as his mentor returns.

"To unexpectedly get the chance to come back at this time, with Tim Drake in a more positive place mentally, stepping into his own as a young adult and better prepared to develop his own distinctive approach to crimefighting - both in Gotham City and across the world - only means the hundreds of stories I've always wanted to tell with the character now number in the thousands!" the writer told The Source of his new run with current "Red Robin" artist Marcus To.

"What lies ahead? Adventure, mystery, complex moral issues, an evolving rogue's gallery specific to the character, romantic triangles (maybe quadrangles!), fun and humor all ripe for the picking! I can't wait for readers to see this excellent character's continuing development into something unique and special in the DC Universe!"
