Netflix's original animated series F Is for Family aired its fourth season in June. Although the finale ended on a cliffhanger -- the Murphy family facing the unexpected arrival of Frank's estranged father Big Bill and the birth of their fourth child -- there's been no official word of a Season 5 renewal.

According to co-creator and executive producer Michael Price, the production should be receiving word shortly on whether or not they have the green light for more Murphy family drama. In an exclusive interview with CBR, Price shared his optimism for renewal.

"We are hoping to hear from Netflix soon," Price told CBR. "They said they'll let us know soon and all I can say is I'm very optimistic and we have a lot of ideas where we want to go with the characters. We left everything with a bit of a cliffhanger, as we always do, with Frank's father voiced by Jonathan Banks. We have tons of ideas and places we want to go, we're just waiting for Netflix to say go ahead."

F Is For Family premiered in Dec. 2015, blending period-piece humor set in 1970s suburbia and standup comedy of co-creator and star Bill Burr with familial drama. The series earned two Emmy Award nominations and continues to receive critical acclaim across all four seasons from critics.

Created by Bill Burr and Michael Price, F Is for Family stars Burr, Laura Dern, Justin Long, Sam Rockwell, Haley Reinhart, Debi Derryberry and Jonathan Banks. All four seasons are available to stream on Netflix.
