Ezra Miller signed on to play The Flash for Warner Bros. and DC in 2014, with promises of a solo movie in 2018. Since then, he's appeared in Justice League, while also having cameoed in Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman. However, Miller's solo Flash film hasn't yet come to fruition, though a new report indicates the movie might finally start production soon.

Variety selected Miller as part of its Power of Pride List for 2019, with the outlet writing, "Miller, who plays the ultra-swift superhero The Flash, will get his DC Universe stand alone film as soon as he wraps up his work on the 'Harry Potter' spinoff series 'Fantastic Beasts.'"

Earlier this year, production was delayed on Fantastic Beasts 3, as the studio reportedly wanted more time to prepare and knew it wouldn't be able to do so and still meet the July start date for filming. Production is now expected to kickoff in the Spring in order to hit a 2021 release date. An exact production start date was not revealed for The Flash, but if true, this report would indicate Miller will start filming sometime in 2020.

In March, reports claimed Miller was teaming up with comic book legend Grant Morrison to rework the script for his solo film. However, a small caveat in that report noted Miller might opt to abandon the role should the studio not use his script. Since then, little has surfaced regarding the project, though this new update seems promising.
