The Flash star Ezra Miller reportedly told Warner Bros. they were the victim of the choking incident that was filmed and went viral in 2020.

The incident involved Miller choking a woman in a bar in Iceland back in April 2020. As reported by Vanity Fair, an associate of Miller claimed the actor tried to paint himself as the victim to Warner Bros., claiming, "It was [Warner Bros.] listening and Miller spewing his poor-me speech: 'I'm the one who was hated on.' So you have this almost 30-year-old who is a partier telling Warner Bros. that he was the victim." A representative for Miller claims that in that situation, the actor was taunted by "a group of teens" speaking about their mixed martial arts skills. The rep insists it was not a choking but "a spontaneous reaction" in which the actor "went at her collarbone."

The Iceland choking incident is just one of many altercations Miller has been involved in, all of which have caused problems for Warner Bros., as Miller stars in both its Fantastic Beasts franchise and the DC Extended Universe. In light of the actor's legal woes, the studio reportedly considered scrapping The Flash at one point, which reportedly compelled the actor to confront the growing issue.

It was recently reported that Ezra Miller promised to seek help after learning the studio was considered axing The Flash. "They care about The Flash. It's one of their favorite characters to play," an anonymous source said in the report. During a meeting with Warner Bros. film chairs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, Miller reportedly apologized for the "negative attention" their actions brought to the film, and all parties agreed to face the controversies and seek further help.

What Happened in Iceland?

Earlier this year, the victim of the choking incident, who wished to remain anonymous, explained she encountered the actor at the bar and believed their conversation to be lighthearted until Miller challenged her to a fight outside the establishment. At that point, the victim continued to believe Miller was joking. She explained, "All of a sudden, [they’re] on top of me, choking me, still screaming in my face if I want to fight," the victim explained. "My friend who’s filming sees [they're] obviously not joking and it’s actually serious, so he stops filming, and pushes [them] off me as [they're] still trying to fight me."

Though the video went viral, the actor faced few consequences until the string of similar events occurred over the course of 2022. Since then, the actor has been the subject of several accusations ranging from assault to grooming.

The Flash is (still) currently scheduled to hit theaters on June 23, 2023.
