WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Extreme Carnage: Riot, available now from Marvel Comics.

Ever since the events of King in Black, the world has been shaken by the damage wrought by Knull's invasion, and all Eddie Brock can do as the new god of the symbiotes is try to make up for it. However, not all of the symbiotes are keen on their latest regent, particularly Carnage, who is moving to knock Eddie off of his throne. But in Extreme Carnage: Riot -- by Alyssa Wong, Fran Galan, Jim Campbell, and VC's Ariana Maher -- just proved that there are a few symbiotes prepared to take on the deranged villain, including a classic figure from the Carnage's past.

Ever since he returned from what should have been a watery grave, Carnage has been clawing his way up the food chain. After taking control of a powerful politician, the evil symbiote has gained public support and approval while amassing an army of symbiotes, including those that were once part of the Life Foundation. Not even Scream was able to resist Carnage's siren call, leading Andi Benton to burn away her own symbiote. Luckily, the remains of Scream and a portion of the Anti-Venom symbiote were able to come together with Andi to create a brand new symbiote called Silence.

Possessing the ability to cut other symbiotes off from the Hive with little more than a touch, Silence has the potential to be a deadly weapon against Carnage. Reaching into the hivemind, Silence encounters another symbiote that both Andi and Flash have experience with, Toxin.

The child of Carnage, Toxin was introduced in 2004's Venom Vs. Carnage #2 (by Peter Milligan and Clayton Crain) and was immediately subjected to a savage attempt on his life by way of his only parent. Thankfully Venom was there to stop Carnage from murdering his offspring, and for the most part Toxin has lived up to the heroic expectations of his grandfather.

Like many other symbiotes, Toxin's first host has perished, but the symbiote has managed to find another person to bond with. It isn't quite clear how Toxin found his new host, a young man named Bren Waters, but the two have taken a liking to one another. Bren has already fought alongside his symbiote against Alchemax's improved Guardsmen, and now it looks like Toxin will soon face off against an even greater foe, although it is unknown whether he has the same advantage that Silence possesses.

Not being connected to the Hive any longer has made tracking Carnage impossible for Silence, but it also makes her invisible to him. Assuming Toxin's presence in the void carries the same implications, Bren would also be undetectable to Carnage and his army.

Whether or not Flash and Andi are willing to induct a child into their battle is still up for debate, although Bren may insists on being involved. Hopefully the others can show him the ropes before he gets in too far over his head, or at the very least protect him from the madness of Carnage.
