Riot, one of Venom's symbiote offspring from the Life Foundation, will be unleashed on the Marvel Universe in an Extreme Carnage one-shot.

CBR can exclusively reveal the cover and solicitation for August's Extreme Carnage: Riot #1 by writer Alyssa Wong and artist Fran Galan. Skan's cover features a monstrous-looking Riot leaping down from an Alchemax building and smashing through a window below. Riot's right arm is wielding a symbiote blade, with its left hand holding a green helmet of its victim.

"I've always loved symbiotes. Top of the list, possibly more than any superhero or supervillain when I was a kid. Weird, lovely xenobiology? Big, man-eating monsters? I'm in!" Wong told CBR. "Unfortunately, I'll never get to be a symbiote host. But I'm beyond stoked to contribute to Extreme Carnage, the symbiote event of the summer! We'll be following Riot, one of the Life Foundations Symbiotes, on a fateful road trip. I can't wait to share this story -- and the rest of the saga, written by the incredible Extreme Carnage team -- with you soon!"

  • Carnage may be building an army, but his ultimate goal remains shrouded in mystery. What is his endgame? And how many will he massacre to achieve it?

Extreme Carnage spins out of the aftermath of King in Black, which left Venom as the new king of the symbiote following Knull's defeat. It all begins with Extreme Carnage Alpha #1 by writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist Manuel Garcia. Along with the returns of the Life Foundation symbiotes, Flash Thompson will also play a major role after his resurrection in King in Black.

"After King in Black, everything we thought we knew about the symbiotes will have changed. Every man, woman, and child in the Marvel Universe will finally understand the massive threat the symbiotes represent, and the symbiotes that are still among us are now in the crosshairs of some extremely angry, scared, and powerful forces," Johnson said when Extreme Carnage Alpha was announced. "In the pages of Extreme Carnage, we'll not only explain what Carnage is in this new, post-King in Black era, but also see a return-to-form for the deadliest symbiotes that have ever lived while putting them on a lethal new path for the future."
