Writer and producer Joe Russo notes that the nature of the shoot required Hargrave to strap himself to vehicles to film to the high-speed chase, while the complexity of the sequence required the actors themselves to perform most of their own stunts in the scene.

Extraction stars Hemsworth as a mercenary tasked with rescuing a boy kidnapped in the middle of a drug war between cartels in India and Bangladesh, reuniting the actor with longtime Marvel Studios filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo who produced the film.
