'Extant' Shakes Up Cast Going Into Second Season

CBS and the producers of Extant are making big changes going into the second season of the sci-fi drama.

Deadline reports star Halle Berry is set to return as astronaut Molly Woods, along with Pierce Gagnon as her robot son and Grace Gummer as her husband's assistant. However, the remaining cast will be shaken up.

ER alum Goran Visnjic, who plays Molly's robotics-scientist husband, and Camryn Manheim (The Practice), who portrays her physician friend, are expected to appear only in a couple of episodes at the beginning of Season 2. Hiroyuki Sanada and Michael O’Neill have been cut entirely.

The series, about an astronaut who returns home inexplicably pregnant after a 13-month solo space mission, aired its 13-episode first season over the summer. The second season is expected to focus on Berry's Molly trying to find her alien offspring.
