CBS has released an extended trailer for its remake of the classic police drama Hawaii Five-0 that looks pretty much like what we've already seen, only, y'know, longer. Not that I'm complaining, mind you. As fond as I am of the original -- I went through a period a few years back when I wouldn't go a day without catching a rerun -- I kind of like what I see in this trailer (updated theme aside).
Scott Caan is charming as Danno, and while we don't see much of Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park in the footage, I'm sure they'll be solid. And then there are the impressive-looking special effects that leave me wondering how much money the network is throwing at the series, and just how low it will allow ratings to dip before it pulls the plug.
And then there's the bland Alex O'Loughlin who, despite riding two recent CBS series (Moonlight and Three Rivers) to their graves, holds some sort of power over the network. Let's hope he's not on his way to unseating Summer Glau as the Grim Reaper of television.
Stars Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park, executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek) and Peter M. Lenkov (24), and director Len Wiseman (Underworld) will appear at Comic-Con International on Friday, July 23. Hawaii Five-0 debuts in September on CBS.
