“If I’d known since I was four that I was going to be shooting a Star Wars film, I would have planned it all my life,” director Gareth Edwards says at the beginning of of a new “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" featurette.

Posted to the Star Wars UK YouTube channel earlier today, the feature gives a behind-the-scenes look at the worlds, the machines and the creatures Edwards and his crew have crafted for the prequel. Especially impressive are full-size X-Wing fighters on the rebel base set, and the prosthetics worn by actors who are playing aliens (which are often rendered with CGI these days).

The two minute vignette also shares completed action and character sequences from the mid-December release.

“These films, these characters, this story I grew up with,” says actor Diego Luna, who plays Captain Cassian Andor. “It’s a whole world I’ve been thinking about for quite a long time.”

"You can feel everyone in the crew and the cast just stop and just take that in and remember we’re actually in Star Wars,” exclaims a thrilled Felicity Jones, who stars as Jyn Erso.

Edwards sums up the story of the prequel by referring the original “Star Wars.” “The simplest way to explain it is that text you see at the beginning of ‘A New Hope'...It is an ensemble movie but at the heart is a strong woman."
