"The Expendables" aren't finished yet. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the franchise will indeed receive a fourth and final installment, which is due to hit theaters sometime in 2018.

The report states that the final installment of the "Expendables" franchise has been picked up by Splendid Film for German-speaking European countries, which means it's locked for release overseas. The franchise's Cologne-based distributor also released the previous three films, which scored $30 million in combined revenue for the company.

"Expendables" boasts an array of '80s action stars, including Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Terry Crews, Dolph Lundgren, Wesley Snipes, Mel Gibson and more have also appeared over the past three films. The tongue-in-cheek franchise is known for its explosive action, '80s film callbacks and over-the-top machismo.

Despite a lukewarm reception for “The Expendables 3,” it was reported last year that Lionsgate intended to shoot a sequel sometime this year for release in 2017. Since then, there’s been little talk about the franchise. However, this move by Splendid Films indicates that there may be some movement for the development of this fourth film.

"Expendables 4" does not yet have a release date, though it will reportedly drop sometime in 2018.
