A new Expanse comic book series is about to drop that reveals what happened between the novels and the show.Published by Boom! Studios, The Expanse: Dragon Tooth features a script by Andy Diggle and art by Rubine. It will run for 12 issues and will cover the previously unexplored events between the end of the Prime Video adaptation and the seventh Expanse book, Persepolis Rising. The Expanse creators Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham have given the comic their blessing, praising Diggle's vision for Dragon Tooth. "Andy has an amazing track record, and his plans for the story are like nothing we've seen before. It's going to be genuinely outstanding,” they said, in a joint statement.Related: The Lack of AI In the Expanse Is Its Most Important Vision of the Future

The Expanse: Dragon Tooth will no doubt be welcomed with open arms by fans still reeling from the Prime Video series' abrupt ending in January 2022. Many Expanse devotees criticized the adaptation's truncated final season for leaving several plot threads unresolved, something that showrunner Naren Shankar addressed in an interview soon after the last episode aired. "It's a balance because we were leaving room for another chapter of the series, or a sequel or whatever the hell you want to call it, that was the logic," Shankar said.

The Expanse Cast Unpack the Series Finale

Several of the Expanse's core cast members weighed in on the sixth and final season following its release, too. Notably, James Holden actor Steven Strait had positive things to say about how his character's arc unfolded in The Expanse Season 6. Strait said it was "extraordinarily fun" to portray Holden grappling with the complex moral dilemmas thrown his way over the course of the last season's six-episode run. "I think that's where this show really thrives, where there really is no good decision," he said. "There are only bad and worse decisions to make: that's where the drama comes from."

Strait's co-star Frankie Adams also opened up about her experiences shooting The Expanse Season 6, including filming the finale's big action set piece. "Breck [Eisner], our director, did tell me I'd have to be in that suit for three days straight," she said. "That was a lot of mental and physical preparation for such a physically enduring three days but it was well worth it." Adams added that she would be open to portraying her character, Bobbie Draper, in a spinoff series, should the opportunity arise.
