One thing comic fans love is alternate realities. Taking a familiar character or a familiar setting and turning it on its head. A myriad of what-ifs and maybes shown on the page and giving an old story a completely new life. Judd Winick and Mike McKone created a new series named Exiles that took some familiar characters and had them start reality hopping. Through this, they were able to revisit some characters like Blink who had just come off the popular alternate timeline series Age Of Apocalypse, and give fans new stories.

The team started off with Blink, Mimic, Morph, Nocturne, Magnus Lensherr, and Thunderbird. After the first issue, the team would constantly start shifting. Adding new members and saying goodbye to old ones would become a regular occurrence. Some characters stuck around for a long time while others ended up only being a member of the team for a handful of issues.

10 Beak's Smarts Helped The Team Accomplish Their Goals

Beak runs through the snow, panicking and possibly chased and threatened - Marvel Comics X-Men

Created by Grant Morrison and Ethan Van Sciver Beak spent most of his time hanging out with the X-Men. When the Exiles showed up in the 616 reality they ran into him right away. After some back and forth it was deduced by Reed Richards that team member Nocturne would stay in this reality while Beak would join the team on their next adventure. With this, the team was able to move on.

At first, he clashed with the team as they didn't see why he was important since his mutation only affected his physical appearance. He would later earn his place on the team on a number of occasions where his smarts helped the team accomplish their goal. Eventually, he was returned home once the team had finally taken control of the Crystal Palace which would serve as their home base.

9 Psylocke Leads The Team Against Hydra

Psylocke

Psylocke is one of the most deadly X-Men members there is. When she is recruited to the Exiles they face off against an alternate version of Hydra led by Sue Storm and Wolverine. After a lengthy battle, Hydra escapes into the Multiverse. The team is tasked with crossing the Multiverse to chase down these members of Hydra.

During her time on the team, she has a romance with another version of Sabertooth (more on him in a second) which she finds odd as in the 616 reality they are mortal enemies. She ends up leading the team along with Sabertooth as they face off against Hydra and other threats before finally returning to the 616 Earth.

8 Longshot Helped Advance The Teams Strength Against Mojo

Longshot Exiles

When the team landed in the Mojoverse they sought out the help of Longshot. They were dismayed after finding that Mojo had erased Longshot's memories. He lacked the confidence to fight off Mojo but with the help of the team, they were able to overcome the evil overlord. Longshot then joined the team for a while to possibly help regain his memories.

After many adventures, he finally began to remember his past life and his wife. He began to feel a connection to Dazzler and could tell when she was in trouble. Eventually, he would decide to leave the team to return to his wife back home.

Namora fighting Dr. Doom

There have been other versions of Namora seen in Marvel Comics but none as fierce as this one. She has a blue flesh tone but also an attitude to rival Namor himself. In her reality, she starts out as Queen of Atlantis, and after attacks on mutants sets out to take over the planet. She succeeds and that earth becomes peaceful.

She is sought to join the team but doesn't want to. After she gets dragged into it she tries to escape the group at one point while they are visiting the 616 reality. She tells Reed Richards that the team was tampering with the timestream in the hopes of getting him to stop them. Later she finally accepts her place on the team and ends up sacrificing herself to save the Multiverse while battling King Hyperion.

The original team leader Blink came from the reality made famous by the Age Of Apocalypse storyline. Luckily there are a few trips to that reality during their adventures. One of the more famous characters from that storyline was Holocaust who was a terrifying foe.

On one such trip, they come into contact with Holocaust who is forced to join the team. After transporting back to the Crystal Palace he enters into a battle with Hyperion whom the team had been facing at the time. Sadly Hyperion would destroy his armor and end his life.

Eventually, he would return to his home reality but would show up in a cross reality hopping story in X-Force. He would later end up jailed for his crimes as a former Horseman of Apocalypse.

3 Wolvie Helps A Version of Captain America When In Need

Wolvie

Originally part of the X-Babies, Wolvie had escaped from the Mojoverse. After setting up in another reality he is surprised by the Exiles team just as the Time-Eater came to consume that reality. He ends up joining the team and brings with him a very cartoony style.

The character clashes with the other team members due to his zany style. After helping a version of Captain America that is portrayed by Peggy Carter to stop the Red Skull, the team accidentally teleports a bomb with them. After it explodes it sends the team hurtling through time.

2 Proteus Being On The Team Helped Them Keep His Powers Under Control

Eventually, he posses the team member Morph. Since his body is able to reshape itself and heal quickly he finds this body suitable for him to possess permanently. The team comes up with a headband that will make him think he is Morph and keep him from using his crazy powers. They leave him on the team so they are able to monitor him and hope that his memories of being Proteus never return.

1 Spider-Man 2099 Helped The Team Fight Proteus

Arguably the most popular character to come out of the 2099 line, Spider-Man 2099 hadn't been around for quite a while when he was brought into the team. He helped them fight Proteus and then joined the team for a spell. During this time he met with an alternate version of Gwen Stacy and fell in love with her.

When her reality was about to end he pleaded for her to come with him but she stayed to die with her own reality. He was then dropped back into his own reality but stuck in the past. It was here that he met Mary Jane Watson and they began a romance. When his teammates came to get him they ended up leaving him in this reality seeing how happy he was with Mary Jane. Tragically this version of Spider-Man 2099 would die just as the Into The Spider-Verse event started.
