EXCLUSIVE: The Shield Reunites on "WWE: Then. Now. Forever." Variant Covers

It's a reunion WWE fans hope will happen at some point in the future, but for now, the former members of the Shield -- Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns -- are forging their own paths, each in a different title match at this Sunday's SummerSlam event on the WWE Network.

In comic books, though, it's a slightly different story. In November's "WWE: Then. Now. Forever." one-shot, the first full issue of BOOM! Studios' licensing deal with WWE, the three members are standing peacefully in three separate, interlocking covers illustrated by "Klaus" artist Dan Mora. CBR has the exclusive first look at all three covers.

The one-shot, which also collects the special one-page comics released last month at Comic-Con International in San Diego, features an all-new 20-page story titled "The Breaking of the Shield," revealing the back-story behind Rollins' betrayal of his brothers at the urging of Triple H and the Authority.

"Here at BOOM! we're thrilled to be a part of WWE's return to the comic book medium," BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon said when the partnership was initially announced. "The WWE Universe is a passionate fanbase, and we aim to provide them with the comic series they've always wanted -- a series featuring their favorite Superstars and storylines, a series that highlights the incredible history of the brand. An authentic series that matters."
