EXCLUSIVE: The "Howling Commandos Of SHIELD" Unite In Francavilla Variant

Dum Dum Dugan is back in Marvel's new series "Howling Commandos of S.H.I.E.L.D." -- and he's brought a whole host of monsters with him. The new series follows the exploits of S.T.A.K.E., a spooky new contingent of S.H.I.E.L.D. taking on some of the horrific evils of the Marvel Universe. With its first issue in stores today, Marvel has given Comic Book Resources an exclusive first look at Francesco Francavilla's variant cover for "Howling Commandos of S.H.I.E.L.D." #2.

The stylish image features S.T.A.K.E. members Googam, Teen Abomination, Manphibian, the werewolf Martin Reyna and Man-Thing combining into the form of their leader, Dum Dum Dugan. While speaking with CBR, writer Frank Barbiere revealed that the book's team dynamic is something he's interested in exploring.

"That is something that I'm really interested in doing," said Barbiere. "We definitely will. In the second and third issues you'll see one of the things I'm doing to manage the team being so big is that not all of them go on every mission. So issues two and three have two very different squads on missions and we get to see what the other characters are doing back at S.T.A.K.E. H.Q."

"Howling Commandos of S.H.I.E.L.D." #1 from Barbiere and artist Brent Schoonover is in stores today. You can check out what's in store for issue #2 below.
