Writer Jim Zub and artists Max Dunbar and Espen Grundetjern's Stone Star has definitely brought a lot of sci-fi action to comiXology Originals' burgeoning brand, and a preview for the final issue teases the climactic showdown between the book's biggest players.

"Stone Star #5 is the final issue of our first season, and it puts all the pieces into place for the bigger story Stone Star is building," Zub said. "We've shown glimpses of the arena, the big bright public face of it and the weird seedy underbelly that supports its entertainment, and now in Season 2 we're ready to delve deep into it and show an intense mix of competition and cruelty wrapped up in its potential."

"Max, Espen, and Marshall have synced up even more than I'd hoped they would," he continued. "Now I feel like I need to push myself to mach the level that they're delivering on the visuals. All of us are having a blast and that enthusiasm shows up on every page. The support we've gotten from the comiXology Originals crew and our readers has been incredible. I can't wait to unleash more Stone Star in 2020."

Dunbar added, "With the end of Stone Star #5, we have set up the world and the way things work within it. In Stone Star Season 2, we're going to take a deeper dive into the arena action, with more crazy, colorful fighters vying for stardome. It's going to be even tougher for Dail, Kikanni and Durn. Working with Jim, Espen and Marshall and the ComiXology team has been so much fun, and so rewarding. I can't wait to jump back into the arena with them for Stone Star Season 2."
