WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Detective Comics #1002, by Peter Tomasi, Brad Walker, Andrew Hennessy, Nathan Fairbairn and Rob Leigh, on sale April 24.

The Arkham Knight has arrived in DC's main comic book continuity, and in Detective Comics #1002, his initial clash with Batman kicks into a higher gear, drawing the GCPD into the fray.

When he debuted in Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham Knight video game, the armored vigilante was revealed to be a new identity for someone Batman knew very well: Jason Todd. Here, however, Jason is firmly established as the Red Hood, so whoever is under the mask remains a mystery for the Dark Knight and readers to solve. What we do know is that this Arkham Knight has a different trick up his sleeve in the form of his followers, the Knights of the Sun, and it's these soldiers that force Batman's initial clash with the Gotham City newcomer to the next level in CBR's exclusive first look at Detective #1002.

While the Knights of the Sun proved invaluable in helping their leader best the Bat last issue, here we see that even though they're obviously capable, they're still a bit green. When the GCPD arrives on the scene and attacks the armored newcomer, his troops return fire, resulting in a battle between two supposed forces for good -- a situation the Arkham Knight appears none to pleased with. After all, if he has arrived in Gotham with the goal of liberating it from what he sees as Batman's reign of terror, he's not going to want to frame him and his people as the enemies of those who are spin to protect and serve the city's populace.

The Arkham Knight's story continues in Detective Comics #1002, by Peter Tomasi, Brad Walker, Andrew Hennessy, Nathan Fairbairn and Rob Leigh, in stores Wednesday, April 24.
