Titan Comics' Blade Runner 2019, a new series from Blade Runner 2049 scribe Michael Green and Batman/Superman writer Mike Johnson, will explore more of the popular universe as it follows veteran Blade Runner Ash's investigation of a kidnapping related to Replicants. The comic will debut on July 17.
Ridley Scott's Blade Runner has spawned several offshoots since debuting in 1982, but this is the first original comic. Marvel published a comic book adaptation of the film, written by Archie Goodwin and illustrated by Al Williamson and Ralph Reese, in 1982. Blade Runner was, like the comic, also set in 2019. It's unclear at this time what relationship this new entry will have to the original film, but the cover for the first issue shows Ash's silhouette, which looks like the Replicant Rachael from the original series, teasing some sort of connection between the two.
