Following an earlier tease around New York Comic Con, BOOM! Studios revealed the official details of the "Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern" crossover miniseries this week. Following that news, CBR has the exclusive first look at a variant cover for the first issue of the series, by artist Felipe Massafera, who drew "Shaper" for Dark Horse Comics in 2015, along with cover work for multiple publishers.
Massafera's cover will be a foil-stamped "spectrum" variant; other cover artists on "Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern" #1 include long-time Green Lantern artist Ethan Van Sciver (main cover), plus Steve Morris, Paul Rivoche and David Ryan Robinson. The six-issue "Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern" is co-written by Robbie Thompson ("Silk") and Justin Jordan ("The Legend of Luther Strode"), with art by Barnaby Bagenda, recently of "The Omega Men."
"We've been having endless amounts of fun collaborating with our friends at DC Entertainment and this new crossover only ups the ante," BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon said in the official press release. "Both 'Planet of the Apes' and 'Green Lantern' boast decades of entertaining stories and dozens of fan-favorite characters. The result of crossing over these two incredible franchises is an ambitious, epic story that's brimming with one of the most enjoyable cast of characters in all of comics."
"Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern" #1 is scheduled for release on Feb. 1, 2017.
