Announced today at the annual ComicsPRO meeting, Marvel will publish a five-issue comic book adaptation of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" written by Chuck Wendig with art from Luke Ross.

Wendig is no stranger to the Star Wars universe, having written the 2015 novel "Star Wars: Aftermath." Ross, a Marvel veteran, was most recently seen as the artist on the current "Hercules" series. The "Force Awakens" comic adaptation will also feature covers from "Secret Wars" artist Esad Ribic.

"'The Force Awakens' knocked our socks off from the very first time we saw it, and we could not wait to start being able to play with these new, awesome characters!" editor Jordan D. White told CBR. "Now, we get to bring all of them to the pages of our comics with an adaptation of the film we loved so much! We're all fans first, so it's all love that is bringing these pages to life!"

The limited series won't be the first time "Force Awakens'" Poe Dameron will appear in a comic; Marvel announced the "Star Wars: Poe Dameron" ongoing in January, scheduled to start in April.

Marvel's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" limited series launches in June.
