EXCLUSIVE: Johnson's Cover Casts Light On "Shadowman" #2

Valiant Entertainment has provided CBR with an exclusive first look at Dave Johnson's variant cover for "Shadowman" #2 written by Justin Jordan and Patrick Zircher with art by Zircher. Johnson's cover puts the shadow back into "Shadowman" using white, black and green to illustrate Jack Boniface's dark alter-ego as he casts as shadow in a doorway.

Launching in November, "Shadowman" is the latest Valiant character to get a modern treatment, courtesy of Jordan and Zircher.

"I've gone back and looked at all the stuff that I thought made 'Shadowman' work," Jordan told CBR in July. "I liked the character back in the '90s and I even liked Garth Ennis' reboot, but our Shadowman is different from those two. We've had the luxury of being able to pick and choose the elements that we thought worked best. This Shadowman is closer to the Jack Boniface of the original "Shadowman" series from Valiant back in the '90s, but he's not exactly the same. He's a different kind of character. He's not a jazz musician for one thing, although he does have something of an interest in music."

Variant Cover by DAVE JOHNSON

Shadowman's first night on the job may just be his last.

Jack Boniface has become the next Shadowman, which would be great if he had any idea what he was doing. But he doesn't and he's out of time. Master Darque has dispatched the terrifying Mr. Twist to destroy Jack, and the demonic creature is tearing through half of the Big Easy in search of his prey. If the Abettors - the mysterious organization that's spent hundreds of years protecting New Orleans - can reach Jack first, he's got an outside shot at making it through the night. Find out if he'll live to see tomorrow when the return of the legendary Shadowman continues this December!
