Archie Comics' hit horror books "Afterlife with Archie" and "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" are set to return -- and soon they'll have company. As announced Thursday on Entertainment Weekly, Archie Horror is now an official imprint at the publisher, with an as-yet unrevealed third series set to join "Afterlife" and "Sabrina."

"I can tell you that it will be centered around a major Archie character," "Afterlife" and "Sabrina" writer (and Archie Chief Creative Officer) Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told EW of the third series. "She has appeared in one of our books before. And [the book] will be in a genre we have not explored or even hinted at in 'Sabrina' -- in 'Afterlife,' we've only hinted at it a tiny, tiny bit. And it will be set in the present."

The new imprint will arrive with "Afterlife with Archie #8" and "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" #2, which have the newly revealed release dates of May 6 and April 15, respectively. CBR has the exclusive first look at "Afterlife" artist Francesco Francavilla's variant covers for both issues. The story of "Afterlife" #8 is an homage to "The Shining," as reflected in Francavilla's variant.

The new release dates mean a five-month layoff between new issues of "Afterlife," and more than six months between issues #1 and #2 of "Sabrina." Aguirre-Sacasa told EW that Archie wanted "Sabrina" #1 out by New York Comic Con and near Halloween, but in retrospect wishes more issues were in the can before launching.

"There's no excuse, and there will never be a delay like there was been between 'Sabrina' #1 and #2," Aguirre-Sacasa said. "Like, never. We are very, very lucky that we have an incredibly passionate and understanding fan base that is eager for the book."
