EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK: Captain America, Thor In Action in Cassaday's "Uncanny Avengers" Pages

In just over a month, Marvel Comics launches its first major John Cassaday's "Uncanny Avengers," and while information about the project has been released here and there, aside from cover art for the first two issues and some character design sheets, Cassaday's art for the series has been kept under wraps -- until today.

Courtesy of Marvel, CBR presents and early look at three of John Cassaday's pages from the series' debut issue. While they may seem heavy on the "Avengers" and a little light on the "Uncanny," X-fan interest should be piqued as the pages show Captain America and Thor squaring off against Avalanche, the former member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants most recently seen fighting alongside the X-Men in San Francisco. Whatever the specific details turn out to be, the encounter is likely part of Remender and Cassaday's plan to unite the currently warring factions in the post-AvX Marvel U.

"John's pages have been classic examples of his work. He's a great storyteller and he's also a tremendous illustrator," Remender said of Cassaday in a CBR interview earlier this month. "Plus, you've seen him do legendary stuff with Captain America and the X-Men. So he's had really important runs with both of these characters and it feels right and natural that John be the guy to do this book given his connection to both sides. Plus, he's John Cassaday! He's amazing! So this stuff has got tremendously exciting illustrations, but never at the expense of storytelling."
