With legendary comic book creator Frank Miller among the celebrity guests in attendance during January's Fan2Sea cruise ship convention, it's only appropriate that the event turn its casino area into a "Sin City"-themed hangout.
From its slot machines and poker chips to its whiskey glasses and ashtrays, the ship's casino will be emblazoned with Miller's artwork featuring Marv, Nancy, Dwight and, yes, That Yellow Bastard, just to name a few of the franchise's seedy yet popular characters. In addition to the specially-themed decor, fans will also be able to purchase a variety of similarly branded items, including lighters, flasks and more.
"The Fan2Sea team has been in close collaboration with Frank Miller to enhance the cruise ship's gaming area and turn it into the Sin City Casino," Fan2Sea creative director Stefan Lawrence told CBR. "Sin City is a modern classic, and it’s been an honor to work with Frank, especially since all of us here are big fans of his ground-breaking work. In particular, we’re excited for the slot machines that pay tribute to the different Sin City yarns -- there’s something about it that just feels right. We’re also planning a custom bar menu for the casino, with cocktails themed to the characters and locations of Sin City. We look forward to revealing more as we get closer to the cruise."
In addition to the Sin City Casino, con-goers will have the opportunity to participate in themed dinners and food, compete in trivia tournaments and cosplay competitions, attend "intimate" interview and podcast sessions with a variety of comic book and Hollywood talent, and more. Plus, a variety of panels, movie screenings, and various workshops will be held throughout the event.
