Though his debut was short and ended with his death, Darth Maul proved to be a popular - perhaps the most popular - aspect of "Star Wars: Episode 1." It's little surprise, then, that the Sith Lord's scarlet, horned visage was resurrected for the animated "Clone Wars" series, and perhaps even less of a surprise that Marvel Comics has turned to the character as the subject of a new comic series.

Of course, the many-toothed creatures won't be the only things Maul faces. There will be a sweet supporting cast for this book. "In addition to Darth Sidious, we’ll be seeing some other faces that are familiar to Star Wars fans," Bunn told CBR in a recent interview. "In some cases, we’re seeing some characters who have appeared in other comics. In others, we’re seeing some characters who haven’t appeared in the comics before. I’m also creating some new characters, not the least of which is Eldra Kaitis, the Jedi Padawan who draws Maul’s ire."
