Marvel's premier espionage organization is turning 50 this year, and the publisher is pulling out all the stops when it comes to celebrating S.H.I.E.L.D.'s latest milestone.

Marvel Shares Plans for SHIELD 50th Anniversary

First announced at C2E2, September will see five one-shot specials that examine the organization's impact on the greater Marvel Universe over half a century -- along with some synergy with the S.H.I.E.L.D. of film and television. Both Nick Fury Sr. and Jr. star in "Fury," while Agent Melinda May heads up "The Cavalry." "Mockingbird," "Quake" and "Agent Carter" all receive eponymous one-shots.

While the publisher previously unveiled action figure variants by John Tyler Christopher, today CBR has the exclusive first look at 5-part connecting covers illustrated by "ODY-C" artist Christian Ward.

Stay tuned to CBR News for Marvel's complete September 2015 solicitations, which will debut online tomorrow.
