Over the past few years, writer Cullen Bunn has made a pretty solid case for being one of the busiest creators in comic books. Not only does he have his slate of creator-owned work at Oni Press like the recently wrapped "The Sixth Gun," he also is one of the highest-profile writers over at Marvel Comics, writing "Uncanny X-Men" and a variety of Deadpool projects.

Bunn has added another publisher to his slate: Z2 Comics, the New York-based publisher that's entering the superhero fray for the first time with new creator-owned series "Grave Lilies." Bunn and artist George Kambadais (co-creator of MonkeyBrain's " The Double Life of Miranda Turner") have teamed for the sci-fi-flavored December-debuting series, which follows, as described in official press material, "five mysterious women as they escape disaster without a scratch, and with no memory of who they are. They each discover that they possess a remarkable ability: the ability to charm the masses, the power to control plant life, the gift of healing, supernatural senses, and unbelievable physical strength. The women will need these powers, too, as they are pursued by sinister agencies that want to apprehend them before they learn the shocking truth of their origins and the destiny that awaits them."

"With Grave Lilies, we have an unfolding mystery surrounding the shared past of five young women who have no memory of who they are or where they come from," Bunn said in a statement to CBR. "But we also have a mystery about the shared destiny that awaits them."

"Grave Lilies is a story about five girls who are trying to find out about their past," Kambadais said, also in a statement. "It's a very exciting and intriguing story. I don't know what's going to happen next! Cullen doesn't tell me either! So, their backstory and their future is a mystery for me too! And I'm hooked!"

"Grave Lilies" #1 is scheduled for release from Z2 Comics on Dec. 7. CBR has the exclusive first look at Kambadais' character designs for the five lead characters, who, when the series picks up, are found in stastis tubes after a mysterious explosion in a major city: Bailey, Celeste, Elsie, Naomi and Rowan.
